Things don’t stay the same for long in the mobile space these days. As Adobe Air developers we have long been fans of the platform with it’s ability to support rich applications across Macs, Windows and Linux. But today at Adobe MAX 2010 the game stepped up a gear with the announcement of the awaited Adobe Air 2.5.
As Adobe Air developers it opens up even more exciting possibilities for us and our customers as it embraces mobile, tablet and most excitingly TV.
Clearly the conflict between Apple and Adobe on the merits of Adobe Flash has just got a lot more interesting as Adobe Air moves up a notch or two.
“Adobe AIR now supports smartphones and tablets based on BlackBerry® Tablet OS, Android™, iOS, and desktops including Windows®, Macintosh and Linux® operating systems. In addition, Samsung will be the first television manufacturer to integrate support for Adobe AIR 2.5 in Samsung SmartTVs while Acer, HTC, Motorola, RIM, Samsung and others are expected to ship the runtime pre-installed on a variety of devices including tablets and smartphones later this year and early 2011.”
Sounds interesting – sounds like some fresh air for Adobe Air Developers. We’ve always wanted to be on TV. But the claim about iOS – hmmm… we’re not so sure.
